Martial Arts

The Arrow Athletic Center Martial Arts Program works together with parents to help athletes develop character to win at life.  Our focus is on developing:

Discipline  – The ability to choose the hard right over the easy wrong.

Diligence – The ability to set clear goals for oneself and work hard to meet those goals.

Determination – The ability to endure through all the bumps and bruises in life to meet and even exceed ones goals.

Duty – Knowing that Discipline, Diligence and Determination will pay off in the long run both for ourselves and our community.

We do this utilizing a martial arts construct that is based on the life skill of self-defense Judo and JuJitsu.  At Arrow Athletic Center Judo, we are dedicated to the process of forging excellent athletes and excellent people!

Kids Judo

Kids Judo:  Arrow Athletics Kids Martial Arts Program is built around the grappling techniques of Judo.  Judo is an ideal art to teach kids self-defense as well as develop character, self-confidence, focus, and to, of course, have fun!   Children in the Arrow Judo Program will learn both stand-up and ground self-defense along with building greater flexibility, fitness, and body control.  Each Arrow Judo class will include time for learning the techniques of Judo as well as sport specific warm-ups and games designed to prepare students to face challenges both on the mat and in every day life.  Arrow’s Kids Program is for children 3-13 years old.

Adult/Teen Judo

Adult/Teen Judo: The Arrow Athletics Adult/Teen Martial Arts Program is designed provide adults and teens the opportunity to learn the art of Judo.  We train primarily for the self-defense aspects of Judo, however, there will be opportunities for competition for those that wish to compete.  Judo for adults/teens focuses on providing a place where athletes can safely practice a proven self-defense art that has application both in day-to-day life as well as in competition.  Our Judo program is well rounded and our athletes train not only on the throwing/takedown aspects of Judo but also spend significant time working Ne Waza or ground fighting techniques.  The Adult/Teen Program is for ages 13 and up.

Women's Self Defense

Women’s Self-Defense: The Arrow Athletics Women’s Self-Defense Program is built around techniques taken from both Judo and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.  The techniques selected are focused on allowing women to escape an attacker rather than “win a fight.”  The Women’s Self-Defense curriculum is not about learning a specific art but rather learning and drilling specific techniques from a variety of arts with scenario specific outcomes.  We take into consideration size and strength differences between women and their likely attackers as well as the probable circumstances in which women will find themselves in a self-defense situation.
