ARROW ATHLETICS DANCE COMPANY

Arrow Athletics offers a Competitive Dance Company for those students seeking a more intense curriculum and providing them with an education for a career in the arts if they so desire. Each member of the Company is given a customized class schedule designed specifically for them. Dancers will attend and compete at several Conventions and Competitions, as well as perform locally within the community.  You will be asked or audition to be part of the competitive dance team.

Are you looking for something more? Is your dancer wanting to be challenged? Are they wanting to perform or compete or both?  Athletics is the place for you. Once the dancer has made the team, you will be given more information regarding competitions and costumes. Our competitive dance team includes jazz, hip-hop, ballet, lyrical, contemporary, and acro!

MINI-MOVERS (5-8 YEAR OLDS) (45-MINUTE CLASS)

These classes offer the first step towards your child learning dance instruction on their own, amongst their peers. This is a beginner class that will explore the basic skills in Ballet and Tap, with age-appropriate music. Combining fun with structure, dancers will participate in fundamental motor skill activities to begin the development of balance, posture, muscle strength, coordination, rhythm, differentiation of left and right. Dancers will receive a skill chart after the first full month of training. Once skill chart is completed staff members will move dancers to a more advanced class.

BALLET (5-18 YEAR OLDS) (45-MINUTE CLASS)

Ballet is the foundation of dance.  It is the architect for the dancer’s body to become strong for all dance disciplines. We teach a traditional ballet class beginning at the ballet barre, moving to center floor, across the floor, and ending with a reverence – all to classical music. Ballet strengthens the body, increases flexibility and creates agility and grace of movement.

JAZZ (5-18 YEAR OLDS) (45-MINUTE CLASS)

Jazz class is the style of dance often seen on Broadway or television. Students warm up with stretching, isolations, strengthening exercises, and “across the floor” exercises including turns and leaps. We’ll incorporate a combination that is usually fast paced, rhythmically based and danced to traditional jazz music and uplifting popular music. Jazz is a great discipline to help a dancer discover the joy of moving.

ACRO (5-18 YEAR OLDS) (60-MINUTE CLASS)

Acro class offers instruction of the fundamental acrobatic moves, including but not limited to hand-stands, walkovers, cartwheels, ariels and handsprings in a dance related environment and style. Dancers will enhance their flexibility, agility, strength and overall conditioning.

LYRICAL | CONTEMPORARY (5-18 YEAR OLDS) (45-MINUTES CLASS)

Lyrical merges continuous controlled movement from good solid ballet technique with the freedom, power, and dynamics of jazz and modern. Lyrical movement is distinctive in that passion, emotion, and expressionism are the essence of this style of dance.

HIP HOP (5-18 YEAR OLDS) (45-MINUTE CLASS)

Hip Hop was originally inspired by street dance that now incorporates many elements of jazz. Our Hip-Hop classes focus on rhythms, new dances, b-boy movement, and funky footwork. All music and movement are age-appropriate and chosen with great discretion. These classes are very fun and very popular!

Dance Attire

ARROW ATHLETICS encourages each dancer to wear dance leotards or Arrow T-shirts along with non-restrictive shorts, tights or leggings. Hair in a bun. Ballet slippers and Tap shoes are required for ballet and tap classes, tennis shoes are required for hip hop class (please write your child’s name in the inside of all shoes).

ALL CLASSES WILL PERFORM IN 2 RECITALS PER YEAR WINTER AND SPRING.  DATES, THEME, COST, AND LOCATION WILL BE ANNOUNCED IN ADVANCE.
